# Can ClickGuard work without the website tracking code

Yes. The Google Ads tracking template is enough for ClickGuard to log and process your ad clicks and apply some protection rules. Without the website tracking code, though, you lose the rules and settings that rely on visitor behavior and device tracking, so your protection catches less invalid traffic.

Yes. Using the Google Ads tracking template is enough for ClickGuard to log and process clicks and apply (some) protection rules. However, without the tracking code, **you won’t benefit from several useful rules and settings**, such as:

-   Device tracking
-   Time on-site rules
-   No Device rules
-   Conversion rules  
    

This is why is is highly recommended to install and use the website tracking code on your website(s).
