Click fraud is any click on your ads from someone with no interest in what you sell: bots, competitors, click farms or the same visitor again and again. You pay for each of those clicks, so it drains your budget and skews the data your campaigns learn from.
Every time someone clicks one of your ads, you pay for that click. Click fraud is when those clicks come from people, or programs, that were never going to buy from you. The click is real, the charge is real, but the visitor is not a customer.
The obvious cost is wasted budget: money spent on clicks that cannot turn into sales. The hidden cost is worse. Ad platforms learn from your traffic, so fake clicks teach their bidding to chase more of the same. Your reports fill with visits that never convert, conversion rates drop, and it becomes harder to tell which campaigns really work.
Ad platforms already filter some invalid clicks and refund them. That filtering is not complete, and it only looks at the click, not at what the visitor does on your website afterwards.
ClickGuard checks every paid click as it arrives. It combines what it learns about the click (the IP address, network, device and placement) with what the visitor does on your website, then scores how likely the visit is to be invalid. When a source keeps sending bad clicks, ClickGuard excludes it in your ad accounts, so it stops seeing and clicking your ads.
